How to get to Cusco?

Fly to Alejandro Velasco Astete Airport (CUZ), which is Cusco’s main international and domestic airport. This airport is located just a short drive from the city center, making arrival and hotel transfers convenient. There are multiple direct flights daily from Lima, as well as regional flights from Arequipa and Juliaca. Several major airlines including LATAM, Sky Airline, and JetSmart operate these routes, offering flexible schedules and competitive pricing. Most international travelers first arrive in Lima and then connect to Cusco with a short 1-hour domestic flight.

Frequently Asked Questions

How early do I need to book this tour?
It’s recommended to book at least 2–4 weeks in advance, especially if you want to include optional hikes like Huayna Picchu, which have very limited daily entry slots.
Is this tour suitable for children or older adults?
Yes, this tour is suitable for participants of all ages with basic mobility. The walk through Machu Picchu includes uneven surfaces and stairs but is not a strenuous hike. Children under 12 and seniors often enjoy the pace and scenery.
Can I stay overnight in Aguas Calientes instead of returning the same day?
Absolutely. Let us know when booking so we can adjust your return ticket and help with accommodations. Staying overnight allows for a more leisurely visit.
Will I get altitude sickness?
Machu Picchu is at a lower altitude than Cusco, so many travelers actually feel better there. Symptoms such as headache or fatigue are more common in Cusco before the trip. Spending a day or two in Cusco before the tour helps prevent discomfort.
What if the weather is bad?
Machu Picchu is open year-round. The site remains magical even in fog or light rain. Rain gear is essential, and the guide will adjust the visit to make the most of the conditions.
Are meals included?
Meals are not included to allow travelers flexibility in dining preferences. We can recommend good restaurants in Aguas Calientes, or assist with box lunch arrangements.
Is there a bathroom inside Machu Picchu?
No, restrooms are located just outside the main gate. It is important to use the bathroom before entering, as re-entry is not permitted once you leave.
What’s the difference between Circuit 1, 2, and 3?
Circuit 2 is the longest and most comprehensive route, covering the classic postcard views, ceremonial areas, and temples. It's ideal for first-time visitors. Other circuits are shorter and may limit what you see.
Can I get a passport stamp at Machu Picchu?
Yes! There is a self-service stamping station near the exit where you can mark your passport with a commemorative Machu Picchu stamp.
What if there are strikes or delays?
While rare, regional strikes can affect transport. Our operations team monitors developments and adjusts logistics or rebooks transport as needed, ensuring minimal disruption.
