With an area of ​​more than 37 thousand hectares, the Machupicchu National Archaeological Park is recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage site. The Park has more than 400 km of Inka Trails and 60 archaeological sites. Within the Archaeological Park of Machupicchu there are two areas for tourist use: the Llaqta of Machupicchu (approximately 12 hectares) made up of buildings, enclosures, platforms, Inka paths, fountains and sacred mountains with high historical and cultural value. The network of Inka Trails consists of 60 km of Inka trail and 15 archaeological sites all interconnected and ending in the Llaqta of Machupicchu.

Routes

Remember that you must purchase your entry ticket in advance on this website or at the offices on Maruri Street #340 and/or Garcilaso S/N in the city of Cusco.

Tickets are limited and by schedule. You have a maximum of 60 minutes to enter from that time.

  • – Only the ticket that indicates “llaqta de Machupicchu” allows you to choose one of the four established circuits.
  • – The ticket that includes the Waynapicchu or Huchuypicchu mountains only allows you to tour CIRCUIT 4.
  • – The ticket that includes the Machupicchu mountain only allows you to tour CIRCUIT 3.

A visit with a tour guide is recommended (RM N° 216-2018 -MC).

Prohibitions

During your visit to the Machupicchu llaqta the following is prohibited:

  1. Carry backpacks, bags or purses larger than 40x35x20 cm (16x14x8 inches).
  2. Enter with food and household items.
  3. Entering with any illegal substance or under its influence.
  4. Entering with any type of alcoholic beverage or in an ethyl state.
  5. Carry canes, umbrellas, parasols, portable seats, tripods, supports or extensions for cameras, cell phones or any other stabilization or extension element for filming and/or photography.
  6. Enter with animals, with the exception of guide dogs.
  7. Feed domestic and wild animals.
  8. Enter with any type of aerosols.
  9. Make any type of graffiti.
  10. Enter with any type of musical instrument, megaphone or speakers.
  11. Making loud or annoying noises such as clapping, shouting, whistling or singing, among others.
  12. Use virtual applications with cell phones or mobile devices in narrow arteries.
  13. Enter with heels or hard-soled shoes.
  14. Access with baby strollers.
  15. Entering with sharp objects and/or weapons of any type.
  16. Entering with banners, posters, signs, clothing intended for advertising purposes, costumes, among other objects of this type. Make films or photographs for advertising purposes.
  17. Causing a disturbance, jumping, lying down, running, undressing or creating disorder.
  18. Climb or lean on walls and/or structures. Touch, move or extract lithic elements.
  19. Disturb, collect or extract flora or fauna.
  20. Carry out activities that distort the sacred character of the Llaqta of Machupicchu; such as fashion shows, dances, social engagements, obscene acts contrary to morality and good customs or any type of activity that involves the impairment or deterioration of the monument, its natural environment and/or facilities.
  21. Smoking, vaping or making any type of fire.
  22. Throwing waste of any kind.
  23. Not respecting established circuits and routes.
  24. Outpatient commerce in the monument and surrounding spaces up to the Puente Ruinas.
  25. Perform overflights with paragliders, drones or any type of smaller craft.

Performing acts or entering with objects prohibited on this list will generate the immediate expulsion of the visitor without the right to a refund and the initiation of the corresponding legal actions. The park rangers of the Ministry of Culture and the agents of the National Police are the authority inside the monument.
